The Hot Springs girls cross country team finished 9th at Thursday’s Black Hills Conference meet in Deadwood.
Kyra Utecht was the highest placing Lady Bison crossing the line in 24th with a time of 22:51. Carlie DeBoer was six spots back in 30th with a time of 23:21.
Peyton VanDeest of Spearfish claimed the individual championship with a 19:35 but it was Custer with three top 10 finishers that took the team title 28-52 over Hill City.
Hot Springs’ lone varsity boy runner, James Ohrmund, was 38th with a 20:49.
Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche blazed to the gold with a 15:57, almost a minute and a half faster than the 2nd place finisher.
Sturgis won the boys portion over Custer 29-36.
The 5A regional meet is next Thursday in Custer.
