Hot Springs’ Schroeder Fires An 87 For 2nd At Sturgis Invite

Hot Springs’ lone golfer took 2nd place at the season opening Sturgis Invite on Monday at Boulder Canyon Country Club.

Brock Schroeder carded a round of 87 to finish 9 strokes behind the winner, St. Thomas More’s Vincent VanLiere, who shot a round of 78.

Schroeder came away with an eagle on the par 5 11th and then sank a birdie on the par 5 17th to highlight his round.

STM held off Sturgis for the team title 361-372.

Custer’s Ryder Bailey tallied an 88 to finish 3rd followed by Caden Johnson of Spearfish (89) and Issak Voyles of Belle Fourche (90) to round out the top 5.

Hot Springs will be at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City on Thursday for the West River Open.
