Nebraska’s home opener against Wisconsin on Saturday may be in jeopardy according to reports from both the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star.

Rumors started to circulate on Tuesday afternoon that COVID-19 issues within the Badger program could hinder the possibility of playing.

Earlier in the day CBS Sports confirmed that current starting quarterback Graham Mertz had tested positive for the coronavirus and will miss 21 days of football activity under the Big Ten guidelines.

The Big Ten conference laid out protocols prior to the restart of the season that teams would use to determine if games could be played from week to week based on the number of active COVID cases per team and community.

It was also reported that Wisconsin went through practice as regularly scheduled on Tuesday.

A Nebraska official said that they had not received any information from the Wisconsin administration and are preparing to play.
