The 28th annual Panhandle Prep All-Star Basketball Games Friday night at Gering High School had one close game and one not-so-close.

The girls game saw the Red-All Stars earn a tight 89-85 victory over the Blue All-Stars, who were coached by former Crawford High coach and incoming Chadron High activities director Rick Barry.

The Blue team also had Barry’s daughter Natalie and Kailey Klein of Sioux County. Klein has signed a letter of intent to play at Chadron State. MVP honors went to Torrington graduate Reece Halley of the Red Team.

The Red All-Stars had an easier time in the boys game with a 100-85 win over the Blue behind MVP Justus Alcorn of Chadron. Alcorn’s Red teammates included high school teammate Gaurav Chima and former Hay Springs Hawk Logan DeCoste.

The boys Blue team had a third Chadron player, Collin Brennan along with P-J Lynch of Gordon-Rushville.

Scottsbluff’s Tyler Harre had a big night as he was on the winning Red team and claimed both the slam dunk and boys 3-point contests. Ashlynn Henderson of Hyannis was the girls 3-point champion..
