Lady Eagles Fall To Roadrunners



The Chadron State College women’s basketball team was unable to pick up their first win of the season on Friday against Metropolitan State University of Denver.

The Eagles lost to the Roadrunners 79-57 and are now 0-12 on the season. MSU Denver improved to 11-5, with a 10-4 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
After just over three minutes without a score, MSUD took the lead and controlled it the rest of the night.
The Roadrunners were dominant in nearly every statistical category. Maggie Justinak with 16 points, Allie Navarette with 15 points, and Morgan Lewis combined to earn 44 of their team’s 79 points.
Defensively, MSUD had 28 rebounds with 13 of them being shared between Navarette and Lewis.
As a team, the Roadrunners averaged 50% on field goals, scoring 31 of 62 attempts. The Eagles, at 23 of 68 attempts, averaged 33.8%.  
Tatum Peterson had another double-digit scoring night as she led her team in scoring with 12 points. She went 5-16 for field goals and two for two on free throws.
Taryn Foxen only played 25 minutes after fouling out in the third quarter. She, along with Ashayla Powers and Bailey Brooks, earned 10 points on the night.
The women’s team will play their last game of the season on the road at Colorado Christian on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.
