The Edgemont Moguls landed two wins Saturday, including an upset two-point contest over the Sioux County girls.

The Lady Warriors opened with a 6-2 lead only to see Edgemont tie the score at six with just over two minutes to play in the first quarter. The Moguls went on to take a 12-7 lead as they went on a 10-1 run. The Warriors fought back in the second and closed to within two points at the half-time mark.

Britney Klein hit a trey for Sioux County at the start of the third to give the Warriors the 23-22 lead; four minutes passed before either team scored again. This time it was the Moguls’ Morgan Peterson to put her team on top 24-22. Kailey Klein netted two from the charity stripe for the Warriors, and Tavian Urban added a free shot for the Moguls to knot the score at 25. Addison Neville gave the Moguls the go-ahead bucket with 19 seconds left in the third for a razor-thin lead as the final quarter began.

With less than five minutes left, Edgemont pulled ahead 33-25. Two free throws and a trey by Kailey Klein cut the deficit to three for the Warriors, and three consecutive free shots by Skylar Edmund and Beth Krein tied the game once again at 33. Bridget Neville responded for the Moguls with a bucket to make it 35-33 with a minute left, and Sioux County’s final two attempts at a three-pointer for the win bounced off the rim and gave the win to the Moguls.

Kailey Klein was the only Warrior in double digits with 15, and the Moguls were led by Hadley Hollenbeck with nine.

When the boys took the court, the Moguls took control early, opening with a 16-4 run. The scoring was more even the rest of the game, with Edgemont outscoring Sioux County 16-14 across the final three quarters but the first quarter deficit was too much for the Warriors to overcome. Edgemont led 24-9 at half and added 10 points in the second half for the 34-18 victory.
