Neb. State Basketball: Six Titles Down, Six More To Go

Six champions were crowned on Friday in Lincoln at the Nebraska state tournament.

North Platte St. Patrick’s defeated Loomis 65-57 in the boys D1 game. North Bend Central took down Lincoln Lutheran 35-31 in overtime for the C1 girls championship. It was Omaha Roncalli over Omaha Skutt in the B boys championship 52-37.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family fended off Grand Island Central 43-42 in boys C2. Fremont took care of Lincoln Southwest in Class A girls 37-32 and Falls City Sacred Heart defeated Humphrey St. Francis in the D2 girls game 43-33.

Bridgeport will try to bring home their first ever championship on Saturday in Class C2. The Bulldogs will meet Hastings St. Cecilia at 3:00 pm on Nebraska Public Media.

D1 girls will start the day with Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family against Shelton, followed by Ashland-Greenwood and Auburn in the C1 boys game. Elkhorn North and Omaha Skutt meet in girls Class B.

After the Bridgeport/St. Cecilia game will be Millard North and Bellevue West in Class A boys capped off by Lincoln Parkview Christian and O’Neill St. mary’s in D2 boys action.

The NSAA did announce on Friday that next year’s tournament will return to the “normal” format that separates boys and girls over three days on two different weekend’s.
