Niobrara County Tabbed 2nd In WyoPreps Preseason Poll

WyoPreps.com released its preseason coaches and media poll on Wednesday, and the defending 9-man runner-up Lusk Tigers are receiving a lot of love.

The Tigers were slated 2nd behind defending champ Southeast.

Lusk earned a total of 156 points with 3 first place votes, while Southeast took 189 points and 9 first place votes. 3rd ranked Shoshoni was the only other top 5 team to garner 1st place votes, with three, and received 126 points.

Torrington, the runner-up last season in 2A, was atop the polls and received 11 first place votes. Just south, Wheatland was 2nd, raking in four 1st place votes. Upton-Sundance, a semifinalist a year ago, was the first team out of the top 5 in 2A.

Cheyenne East is the top team in 4A, Jackson is 1st in the 3A poll, and Meeteetse leads the way in 6-man.

Wyoming opens with its week 0 schedule on Friday.
