Oh What A Night! Cardinal Boys & Girls Pull Off Comeback Wins

The Chadron boys and girls both overcame double digit deficits in pulling out a sweep of Belle Fourche at home on Friday night.

Trailing 35-25 in the 4th quarter, the Chadron girls finished the game on a 16-1 run to take the 41-35 win.

Baskets by Ferguson and Makinley Fuller along with free throws from Laney Klemke helped lead the late 4th quarter charge.

Chadron led by three after a quarter and just by one at the half but the Lady Broncos pulled ahead with a 12-5 3rd quarter, 29-23.

Chadron was also solid from the free throw line, going 11 of 16, while Belle Fourche went 5 of 16.

Justus Alcorn had a monster night with 24 points and the Chadron boys overcame a 13 point 2nd half deficit in a 46-42 victory.

The Cardinals took their first lead in the 2nd half at 40-39 on a Collin Brennan runner, but the Broncs answered with a three to climb back on top 42-40. A Dawson Dunbar free throw cut it to 42-41 before Brennan came back down the floor a couple possessions later and buried a three from the left wing to put Chadron on top for good at 44-42.

Alcorn would hit a pair of free throws with 2-seconds left to finish off the night.

Both Chadron teams now sit at 7-4 and hit the road for Mitchell on Saturday. Our coverage begins around 3:50 pm on KCSR and Chadrad.com with tip off scheduled for 4:00.
