Pelton Qualifies For State Golf, Chadron Girls 4th At Districts

The Chadron High girls golf team fell one stroke short of sending the entire team to the state meet after placing 4th at the B-4 district meet in McCook on Monday.

The Lady Cardinals score of 428 was one stroke behind the 427 from 3rd place Alliance. Scottsbluff won the meet with a 325 and Gering was runner-up with a 421.

Maddi Pelton did qualify for her fourth consecutive and final state meet after firing off a round of 93 to claim 8th place. Maralee Rischling was just outside of the top 10, and automatically qualifying, with a 104.

Jackson Smith finished with a 115 and Raeleigh Bridges was a stroke behind at 116. Sarah Jones rounded out the Chadron individual scores with a 126.

Anna Kelley of Scottsbluff won the individual championship with a score of 77, two strokes in front of runner-up Madi Schlaepfer of Gering.

The Class B state golf meet will be next Monday and Tuesday at Monument Shadows Golf Course in Gering.
