Rams Open Season With Wins Over Warriors

The Crawford Rams snuck past the Sioux County Warriors in the teams’ season opener Thursday night, holding the Warriors to a single bucket in the fourth to take the 42-35 victory.

Natalie Barry led the Rams with 15 points, including two treys in the first quarter to help her team take an early 14-8 lead. The Warriors chipped away at the deficit in the second quarter, outscoring the Rams 12-7. Kailey Klein had a field goal and was three of four at the charity stripe in the effort, and Britney Klein also went three of four on free throw attempts.

Despite two treys by Kylah Vogel, the Rams lost their one-point half-time advantage in the third as the Warriors again outscored them 13-12 to tie the contest at 33. K. Klein sank a trey of her own, and the Warriors were four of six at the line in the quarter. But Sioux County’s shooting efforts were stifled in the final eight minutes, as they added just a single bucket by Hanna Krein. While the Rams also had just one field goal in the fourth, they scored seven on free throw attempts for the victory.

K. Klein led the Warriors with 15 points, and Skylar Edmund snagged 10 boards.

The Crawford Rams also picked up the win in the boys’ contest, rolling to a 50-25 win over the Warriors. The Rams jumped ahead to a 10-3 lead after the opening stand and held Sioux County to single digit scoring in the remaining three quarters as well.
