Rams, Warriors Roll Up Holiday Tournament Wins

The Crawford Lady Rams and the Sioux County Lady Warriors handled their first-round opponents with ease at the Harrison Holiday Tournament Monday and will face each other in the championship Tuesday.

The Crawford Rams downed the Hay Springs Hawks 56-18 in the opening game of the tournament.

The Rams offense was firing on all cylinders in the first half, as Crawford jumped out to a 20-5 lead in the first quarter and went up 39-8 at the break. The teams paced each other with nine points apiece in the third quarter, and the Rams assembled an 8-1 run in the final eight minutes to put the game away. The Rams sank three treys in the contest and had four players score in double figures. Carly Lemmon and Skylar Summers each netted 11, and Natalie Barry and Jasmine Dyer added 10 each.

Sioux County fought off a challenge by Morrill in the second quarter and went on to secure a 62-34 victory. The Warriors took an early 11-2 lead but allowed the Lions back in late in the first and held just a three-point edge, 13-10, after one quarter. Sioux County won the second quarter with a 17-10 run, but the Morrill Lions gave them a scare, tying the contest at 20 with 1:43 left in the half. The Warriors doubled down and went on a 10-0 run in the remaining time. Sioux County continued its momentum after the break, exploding for 21 points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth to put the contest out of reach for the Lions.

Beth Krein led the Warriors with 17 points, and Kailey Klein added 10.
