Red Cloud’s Jade Ecoffey SD Class A Girls 3200 Champ, Solid Day Fri For Hot Springs And Edgemont

      Day 2 of the South Dakota State Track Meet in Sioux Falls was much better than the first for schools in the southwest corner of the state as they captured 7 medals, including a gold, and grabbed 4 spots in Saturday’s finals.

      Leading the way was Class A Red Cloud, especially Jade Ecoffey who was the state champion in girls 3200 and placed 3rd in the 800.

     Placing 5th behind Ecoffey in the 3200 was teammate Ashlan Blount, who also won her heat in the 300 hurdles to move to the finals. 

     Hot Springs got 2 medals in Class A as Carlie DeBoer was 7th in the  girls HJ and Matt Close placed 8th in the boys 800. 

      The Bison also had Jaylen Nachtigall winning her heat in the 100 hurdles to advance to the finals, but Warren Russel missed making it in the boys 300 hurdles by 1 spot and 32-hundredths of a second.

     In Class B, Edgemont’s Morgan Peterson made the finals in both girls hurdles – posting the fastest time in the 300 and the 4th-fastest in the highs.

     Today’s action includes Nachtigall, Blount, and Peterson in their respective hurdles finals, Blount and Ecoffey in the 1600, Hot Springs and Edgemont in the girl’s 4×100 relay, and the Hot Springs boys 4×400 relay and 1600 sprint relay
