Reynolds Makes RMAC All-Academic First Team

Chadron State College track and field student-athlete Daniel Reynolds was 1 of 10 selected as Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic First Team members, for the indoor season, when the annual release went out Wednesday at RMACSports.org.

The All-Academic First Team was voted on by conference sports information directors, from among all qualifiers who had a 3.3 or better cumulative grade point average, maintained at least one year at their current school, and used a year of eligibility.

Reynolds, who carries a 4.0 GPA in rangeland management, was a Second Team All-American this season after finishing 12th at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the weight throw. The Granby, Colorado, native was also named All-Region by the USTFCCCA for finishing in the top three in the NCAA Division II South Central Region in the same event, and he set an RMAC meet record at the conference championships, winning the competition.

In addition, 26 other members of the CSC track and field teams met the minimum qualifications and were added to the Academic Honor Roll.

From the men’s team, honor roll went to Estabon Bozeman (Inglewood, Calif.); Noah Burtis (Berthoud, Colo.); Osiel and Osvaldo Cano (Oshkosh, Neb.); Shane Collins (Bison, S.D.); Parker Gonser (Windsor, Colo.), Steven Hinze (McCook, Neb.); Joss Linse (Plattsmouth, Neb.); Gregory Logsdon (Torrington, Wyo.); Logan Moravec (Gering, Neb.); Jordan Nwalor (Gilbert, Ariz.); Logan Peila (Miles City, Mont.); Alec Penfield (Lusk, Wyo.); Harley Rhoades (Douglas, Wyo.); Cale Schafer (LaSalle, Colo.); Reid Spady (Oshkosh); Creighton Trembly (Longmont, Colo.); and Emory Yoosook (Casper, Wyo.).

Women’s recipients were Hannah Christie (Alpine, Wyo.); Carlie Collier (Dunning, Neb.); Morgan Ekwall (Yoder, Wyo.); Michaela Hill (Eaton, Colo.); Madyson Schliep (Grand Island, Neb.); Sydney Settles (Lincoln, Neb.); Julianne Thomsen (Custer, S.D.); and Hannah Wilkie (Gering).

Justin Thompson of Colorado Mesa University, and Zoe Baker of Colorado School of Mines, were named the men’s and women’s Academic Athlete of the Year, respectively.
