Rutledge’s Hot Bat Sends Chadron Past Alliance

The Chadron High softball team ran away from Alliance in their home opener on Tuesday night 11-2 in 5 innings.

Maci Rutledge had the big night at the plate for the Cardinals with a 3-for-4 performance that included a double and a triple with 3 RBI’s.

Chadron High Head Coach Jodi Hendrickson said, “We started off a little slow, but made adjustments at the bat and started crushing the ball.”

Alliance was able to grab the early lead with single runs in the top of the 1st and 2nd innings before Chadron got on the board with 2 in the bottom of the 2nd.

From there the Cards would tally a run in the 3rd, 5 in the 4th, and 3 in the 5th to end the game by run rule.

For the game Chadron produced 10 hits on offense, half of them extra base hits, while the defense didn’t commit a single error.

Chadron will have a tall task in their next outing next Tuesday at Class B top 10 Scottsbluff.
