Following Thursday’s C2 semifinal round of the girls state tournament, Scottsbluff will be the only panhandle team left with a chance at a state championship.
Making their first semifinal appearance since 1989, the Bridgeport Bulldogs were behind early and could never hang with Crofton in a 66-48 defeat.
Bridgeport will now play BRLD in the 3rd place game at 1:00 pm this afternoon at Lincoln Northeast.
In a matchup of two of the best players in Nebraska, Husker signee Allison Weidner of Humphrey St. Francis out dueled UNK signee Samantha Moore of Mullen 31-28 individually as the Flyers advanced to the D2 finals with a 65-59 win victory.
Mullen will get Wynot in the 3rd place game at Northeast at 8:00 am this morning.
Scottsbluff will try to follow up their impressive opening round win over defending champ Crete on Wednesday, with a semifinal win over Elkhorn North this afternoon.
The Bearcats were state semifinalists last season as well before losing to Beatrice.
