SD Boys State Basketball: St. Thomas More, White River Take 3rd In Their Tourney’s

St. Thomas More walked away with 3rd place at the South Dakota Class A state tournament on Saturday with a 43-42 win over Flandreau.

The Cavaliers trailed by 5 at the half but tied things up after three and then had to mount another comeback down the stretch.

Lakota Tech finished their first ever state appearance by dropping the 7th place game to Groton 66-57. The Tatanka led by 9 after a quarter but it was all Groton after that.

White River captured 3rd at the Class B tourney with an 83-74 win over Potter County. After a tournament record 43 points on Thursday night, Joe Sayler had another monster night with 37 points.

DeSmet won the Class B title over Lower Brule 49-26. Dakota Valley came away with the Class A championship 82-65 against Sioux Valley, and Sioux Falls Roosevelt took down Sioux Falls O’Gorman 54-52 in overtime to claim Class AA.
