SD State Wrestling Wraps Up Today In Rapid City

As the second day of the South Dakota High School state wrestling meet wrapped up on Friday, Hot Springs still has two wrestlers in medal contention.

Marcus Harkless lost his semifinal at 220-lbs to drop to the 3rd round of consolations and will now try to slip into the 3rd place match.

Caleb Rickenbach took his 2nd round consolation match and will also compete in the 3rd round of consolations at 170-lbs.

Hot Springs’ other wrestler, Keaston Bissonnette, was knocked out in the 2nd round of consolations at 182-lbs.

Former Chadron High and now Rapid City Stevens wrestler Paige Denke will try for a state championship today in the girls 124-lb weight class.

Denke was the top seed and earned a first round bye into the semifinals, but advanced to the finals after her semifinal opponent, Haley Rodriguez of Belle Fourche, forfeited due to injury.

Now Denke will face Regina Stoeser of Harrisburg for “all the marbles.”

The state tournament concludes today in Rapid City.
