The Chadron State College wrestling program had seven student-athletes named Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association on Monday.
To receive Scholar All-America status, an individual must have a minimum 3.4 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, and a benchmark of 3.25 for those who qualified for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.
Stone Durham (Rapid City, South Dakota), Ryder Fuchs (Pierce, Nebraska), Harrison Gocke (York, Nebraska), Caleb Haskell (Madison, Nebraska), Dean Neff (Jefferson, Wisconsin), Gavin Peitzmeier (Omaha), and Joe Ritzen (Chadron) were the seven CSC wrestlers recognized. Haskell is now a four-time recipient of the honor, and Ritzen received it for the second time.
The organization named Maryville University, of St. Louis, Missouri, as its No. 1 Academic All-America Team, checking in at a cumulative team GPA of 3.65.
