Sioux County Shooters Compete At The Last Panhandles Best Match

The Sioux County Shooters competed over the weekend at the Chadron 4-H Shooting Sports BB Gun,Sporter Air Rifle, Precision Air Rifle and Air Pistol competition, it was the last Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports Panhandle Best Competition of the year.

In BB Gun, 8 year old Ruger Pelster placed 2nd with a 324-1, Clancey Newlyn was 6th with a 289-3 and Natalie Turbiville placed 8th with a score of 272-1. In the 9-10 year old division Chisum Pelster placed 2nd with a 347-10 and Tilton Button placed 15th with a 255-0. In 11-12 year old Boone Button placed 7th with a 322-3. In 13-14 year old Becca Reece placed 10th with a 353-6 and Victoria Turbiville placed 11th with a score of 343-13.

In Sporter Air Rifle 8-10 year old division Chisum Pelster placed 2nd with a score of 201-1. In the 11-12 year old division Boone Button placed 4th with a score of 216-2. In 13-14 year old Baxter Reece placed 9th with a 206-5, and in 15-18 year old Jaime Turbiville placed 4th with a score of 243-3.

In Air Rifle Precision 8-10 year old Chisum Pelster placed 2nd with a 160-1. In 11-12 year old Boone Button placed 2nd with a 177-0 and in 15-18 year old Jaime Turbiville place 6th with a score of 222-2. In Air Pistol Basic Supported Ruger Pelster placed 1st with a 211-0, Natalie Turbiville placed 2nd with a 207-0, Chisum Pelster placed 3rd with a 205-2 and Tilton Button placed 4th with a score of 82-0. In 11-13 Air Pistol Standing Victoria Turbiville placed 1st with a 206-2 and Baxter Reece placed 2nd with a 153-0. In Air Pistol as a team the Sioux County Shooters placed 1st with a total score of 829-4.

In 9-10 year old BB gun Chisum Pelster got 2nd and also 2nd in Precision and 1st in Air Rifle. In 11-12 year old Boone Button got 2nd in Precision and 3rd in Air Rifle.

Bringing back to Sioux County for the first time for Panhandle Best Titles of the year are Ruger Pelster who got 1st in 8 year old BB Gun and Natalie Turbiville got 6th.

The Panhandle Best awards are based on an average score over the year for competing in as many matches as possible. Since youth do not need to qualify for the State Match this is the next highest award our local 4-H Shooting Sports Youth can compete for during the shooting sports season in the Panhandle of Nebraska.

The Sioux County 4-H youth are now practicing and preparing for the Nebraska State BB Gun and Air Rifle Competition. You can still observe the match and check scores during or after the State match, on Orionresults.com 2022 Nebraska State Match Scotts Bluff County if you are interested in following the local youth at the state match. The 2022 Nebraska State BB Gun and Air Rifle Competition will be held March 19 and 20 in Mitchell, NE at the Scotts Bluff County Fair Grounds.
