Sioux County Sweeps Hay Springs

The Sioux County Warriors swept the Hay Springs Hawks Friday night at home, rolling to a 25-12, 25-15, 25-10 victory.

The Warriors opened up a 7-2 lead with kills and ace serves by Kailey Klein and Tamika Eastman; Eastman also added a block in the run.

Hay Springs challenged the Warriors a bit, closing to within two, 9-7, but ace serves by Kodie Rempp and Karlee Juhnke, as well as another Klein kill moved the Warriors ahead 12-8.

Six consecutive kills – three apiece by Eastman and Skylar Edmund – gave Sioux County a 19-10 lead. After allowing two points by the Hawks, three kills by Juhnke and two kills and an ace serve by Eastman closed out the set.

Sioux County started the second set with back-to-back kills by Edmund and Rempp, and a string of plays that included a kills by Eastman and Rempp, as well as an Eastman ace serve and a block by Eastman and Rempp helped the Warriors stay in the early game.

Hay Springs took a brief 7-5 lead, before seeing it slip away behind Sioux County kills by Juhnke and an ace serve by Rempp. After a tie at nine, Sioux County raced ahead and never let go of the lead.

Hay Springs struggled to keep pace with the Warriors in the third set after opening up with a 4-1 lead. The final set was tied at set points 4, 5, 6 and 7, when a block by Emily Parker and a kill by Juhnke gave the Warriors a 9-7 advantage. Four consecutive kills by Eastman and a fifth by Rempp opened the game up 20-10, and Sioux County quickly finished off the contest.
