Sioux County Wins Crawford VB Triangular

The Sioux County Warriors started off the 2020 volleyball season undefeated Saturday with victories over Crawford and Hemingford at the Crawford Triangular.

Three consecutive kills by Sioux County’s Karlee Juhnke in the opening set against the Crawford Rams helped push the Warriors to an early seven-point lead. Sioux County led by as much as 10 but stalled at 22 for eight serves, allowing the Rams to make it 22-18. The Warriors regrouped and used the next six plays to clinch the set 25-21. The early action in the second set was a back-and-forth battle, with eight ties in the first 11 points. After Sioux County took a 12-11 lead, they never game up that position,
winning the set 25-17.

The Warriors defeated the Hemingford Bobcats in the opening contest of the day 25-14, 25-15. Sioux County took an early lead which they stretched to eight points in the middle of the first set. The Warriors extended that to the 11-point gap to close the set, holding the Bobcats to 14 for eight plays.
The second set went much the same way, with Sioux County on top 25-15.

Crawford claimed second in their home tri with a win over Hemingford in two sets. The Bobcats led the Rams for the first four points only to see the Rams take a 5-4 lead and never look back. Crawford claimed the first set 25-20. The five-point margin was the average difference between the two teams, though the Rams did hold a nine-point advantage in the middle of the action. The second set belonged to Crawford all the way as they opened with a 3-0 run. The teams tied at 4, 5, and 7 with the Rams quickly re-establishing themselves for a six-point lead mid-way through the set and finished Hemingford off 25-11.
