Chadron’s First National Bank-Omaha Juniors won the Class B District 7 American Legion baseball Tournament on its home field Tuesday night by defeating Alliance 10-3, and advances to the state tournament that begins Saturday in Waverly.
Now 14-7-1 for the season after winning its last six games, Chadron scored at least 10 runs in each of the four of the district contests, and won them by a 47 to 9 margin.
The Nationals had 10 runs on 11 hits in the championship game. Five of the runs and five of the hits came in the third inning. They added three insurance runs in the seventh. Besides hitting well, the Chadron team turned three double plays Tuesday night. Alliance had three runs on four hits.
This will be the Chadron Juniors’ first trip to the state tournament since 2015. The team also qualified for state in 2014.
