Chadron Sophomore Kenli Boeselager won the first ever NSAA girls state wrestling145-lb championship on Saturday with a dominating pin over Angelean Rose of Omaha Central in 1:49. It’s also the first girls state champion is Chadron school history.
The win also avenges a Boeselager loss to Rose in the district championship two weeks ago.
The road to the championship saw Boeselager open the state meet with a pin over Miah Kenny of Grand Island Northwest in 2:52. The quarterfinals saw Boeselager run away from Sage Misarez of West Point-Beemer with a 16-2 major decision.
In the semifinals was a familiar foe in Maria Barnes of Ogallala. Boeselager went 3-1 in the regular season against Barnes and took care of her in the semi’s with a 5-1 decision.
Boeselager finishes the season with a record of 26-3 and a state championship! Congrats Kenli!
