State Volleyball Ramps Up In Nebraska & Wyoming, Regionals Wrap Up In SD

Day one of the Nebraska state volleyball tournament in Lincoln didn’t offer a lot of surprises.

In Class C1 the higher seeds won every match, all by sweeps. The only upset in Class B was Elkhorn North over York in the four vs. five game, and that was only by seed.

In Class A two of the matches went all 5 sets, one an upset as 6th seeded Omaha Westside took down 3rd seeded Lincoln Southwest.

Classes C2 through D2 take the floor at Pinnacle Bank Arena today in quarterfinal games.

Oakland-Craig is the top seed in C2, Howells-Dodge leads Class D1, and Falls City Sacred Heart is #1 in D2.

— The Wyoming state volleyball tournament gets underway in Casper today.

Regionally, Southeast and Lingle-Ft. Laramie are both in the 1A tourney with matches against Saratoga and Cokeville.

Newcastle is in the 3A bracket facing off against Mountain View, and both Casper Kelly Walsh and Natrona are in the 4A field against Rock Springs and Cheyenne Central.

— The 19-10 Edgemont Moguls will play against 25-4 Wall tonight at the Class B Region 7 tournament with a win sending them to the Class B SoDak 16.

Edgemont defeated Wall 3-1 in a triangular back on October 22nd. Game time is 6 pm in Wall.

Rapid City Christian will play St. Thomas More and Belle Fourche will square off with Hill City at the Class A Region 8 tournament. Meanwhile it’s Lakota Tech against Todd County and Pine Ridge faces Bennett County in the Region 7 tourney.

All winners advance to the Class A SoDak 16.
