A group of twenty five red clad Husker supporters filled the conference room at Country Kitchen in Chadron on Wednesday as the University of Nebraska rolled out their Big Red Blitz across the state.
Husker Radio Network host Jessica Coody MC’d the event that featured assistant football coach Tony Tuioti , associate head volleyball coach Tyler Hildebrand, and Dave Ellis, the director of nutrition performance at Nebraska.
Tuioti touched on the amount of returnees that the Big Red football program will bring back in the fall, notably Nebraska native and Senior defensive lineman Ben Stille, the position that Tuioti coaches.
He also spoke on his journey to Nebraska, first as a college football player himself at Hawaii and then with GA stops at Michigan, and California, before landing in Nebraska.
Hildebrand gushed over the volleyball program’s recent haul of top tier recruits, including three in-state recruits, as Nebraska just completed their 9th straight trip to the Elite 8. He also expressed joy as fans will be allowed to return to the Devaney Center in full force this fall.
KCSR Sports Director Jeremy Anderson asked Coach Hildebrand a question regarding the status of All-American Lauren Stivrins to which Hildebrand responded, “Lauren Stivrins is coming back.”
The Nebraska volleyball team’s official twitter account published a statement by Wednesday afternoon explaining that Stivrins is returning to Lincoln to rehab from a back surgery she had in the spring. The statement went on to say that Stivrins is still talking through her options to potentially play professional volleyball.
It ended with, “No decision on returning for another year of school has been made.”
The same group of coaches was scheduled to make a stop in Valentine on early Wednesday evening.
