Summit Leage POY Baylor Scheierman Leaving SDSU For Creighton – Or The NBA

Loading

Creighton has added arguably the best available player in the transfer portal, reigning Summit League Player of the Year Baylor Scheierman of South Dakota State.

A Nebraska native, he chose the Bluejays over the Huskers, Clemson, Arkansas and Duke because he likes the way they play.

Scheierman says Creighton is an unselfish team that really shares the ball and lets everyone play free and loose – the type of system he plays his best in.

His addition pushes Creighton from 9th in ESPN’s first Way-Too-Early Preseason Top 25 to #5.

It’s not guaranteed Scheierman will wind up at Creighton. He declared for the NBA draft and has been invited to the G League Elite Camp in 2 weeks. Scheierman says if he’s drafted and gets guaranteed money, he’ll take it.

The 6-6 Scheierman led the Summit League in rebounds and assists per game last year as he  averaged 16.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists while shooting 46.9% from 3-point range as South Dakota State went 30-4 and made the NCAA tourney.

A 2-time All-Summit League selection, he’s considered an elite passer and perimeter shooter who also makes plays on the glass.
