Three Nebraska High School Football Title Games Monday, 3 More Tuesday


     The Nebraska High School Football Championships continue with 3 more games today and another 3 tomorrow, all at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

       Up first with a 9:15 kickoff is the D-1 title game with a pair of unexpected finalists as 5th seeded and unbeaten Howells-Dodge facing #10 Cross County, who has 1 loss.

      At 1:45 in D-2, top-seeded Sandhills/Thedford tries to wrap up a perfect season against #7 Kenesaw, who is also undefeated.

       Wrapping the day at 6:15 is the Class B championship, where the seeders got it right as #1 and 12-0 Bennington takes on #2 Aurora, who is 7-2.

        Tomorrow’s schedule starts with 2 Cinderellas going for the C-2 crown in #9 Pierce and #11 Columbus Lakeview. 

      The afternoon game has another 1-2 matchup in Norfolk Catholic battling Archbishop Bergan. The last game is Class A, #5 Gretna vs #2 Omaha Westside.. 

      All the games are televised on Nebraska Public Media, formerly NET, and streamed on its website

       The first of the football championships was Friday in 6-man when Cody Kilgore defeated Potter 65-37 in a battle of unbeatens. Peyton Sterkel ran for 240 yards and 5 touchdowns while adding a defensive touchdown as well. Both teams came into the game 10-0.
