Tigers Down Rams

The Bayard Tigers defeated the Crawford Rams Saturday in both the girls’ and boys’ contests, though it took overtime to get the job done in the ladies’ game.

Bayard jumped out to an early 13-3 advantage and held on to the momentum in the second quarter as the Lady Rams struggled on offense. The Tigers were up 24-7 at the break but faced an improved Crawford effort in the second half. The Rams outscored the Tigers 16-10 in the third quarter and a 21-10 scoring run in the final eight minutes tied the contest at 44 as time ran out. The overtime period was all about the Tigers, however, as they went on a 12-2 run for the 56-46 victory.

Poor shooting in the second and fourth quarters of the boys’ contest let the Tigers get ahead for a 60-40 win over the Rams. The teams were tied at 14 after the first eight minutes, but Bayard assembled a 23-8 run before the break to go ahead 37-22. The teams traded buckets in the third, but the Tigers outpaced the Rams again in the fourth to cruise to the win.

Stats for the games are not yet available.
