The Chadron High volleyball team continued their season turn around on Tuesday with their biggest win yet, a 5-set toppling of South Dakota Class A 5th ranked Rapid City Christian on the road.

The Lady Cardinals have now won 7 of their last 9 after a turbulent four day span in mid-September that saw them lose 8 in a row.

Chadron took the opening set 25-21, before the Comets took the next two 25-16 and 33-31. The Cards rebounded with a 25-15 victory in set 4 and then slammed the door shut with a 15-8 5th set win.

Tatum Bailey and Demi Ferguson went off at net as both hit over .400 on the night. Bailey tallied 27 kills and Ferguson followed up with 24. Bailey finished with 20 digs while Ferguson had 26, but Jacey Garrett had the big night in the back row with 34 digs.

Jaleigh McCartney had 45 assists and added 18 digs.

On the win head coach Blakelee Hoffman said, “I am so proud of these girls for this win tonight…it was a huge win! After losing the third set that ended at 33-31, the girls found the energy they needed to close out the next two sets.”

The win also means that Chadron has defeated three of the Rapid City schools this year, taking down Stevens and Central at last weekend’s Twin City Invite.

Chadron will be back on the road Saturday for the Western Conference Tournament in Mitchell.
