Warriors 13-3 After Weekend Action

The Sioux County Warriors improved to 13-3 on the volleyball court over the weekend in action that included a second-place finish in the Morrill Invite Saturday.

The Warriors suffered their third loss of the season in the championship match against Garden County to take the runner-up spot in the tournament. Sioux County took the opening set of the contest 25-21, but dropped the next two 17-25, 21-25.

Earlier in the tournament, the Warriors defeated Creek Valley 25-13, 25-20 and Hyannis 25-14, 25-20.

Sioux County also defeated Minatare in a five-set, two-and-a-half hour marathon Friday night. The Warriors lost the first set 20-25 before taking the next two 26-24, 25-23. Minatare dominated the fourth set in a 25-13 victory and used the momentum to open up a 14-9 lead in the fifth and final set. With the Indians just one point away from taking the match, Sioux County went on a 7-0 run to win the set and game 16-14.

The Warriors will take on Edgemont Thursday and face Crawford Friday for Homecoming.
