The Sioux County Warriors suffered a second loss to start the 2020 basketball season Saturday, falling to the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys 38-26.

The Cowboys raced out to a 9-1 lead in the first three minutes of the contest and secured a 14-5 advantage by the end of the first period. Tucker Monroe had all five of Sioux County’s first quarter points and netted 15 on the night, the most of any player on either team.

The margin in the second quarter was much the same, with the Cowboys sinking 13 to the Warriors’ 6. Sioux County stepped up its defense in the second half, holding Cody-Kilgore to single digits in the remaining two quarters. The Warriors outscored the Cowboys 8-6 and 7-5 in the second half, cutting their deficit incrementally but not enough to wipe out CK’s early advantage.

Gage Davis and Peyton Sterkel each had 11 points to lead the Cowboys.
