The Sioux County boys came from behind and hung on to get their second win of the season over Minatare Friday night.

Minatare closed to within two mid-way through the fourth, but Sioux County closed the game with an 8-2 run for the 40-32 victory. Minatare led 12-8 after the first quarter but Sioux County went on a 6-0 run in the second, shutting out Minatare until less than two minutes remained in the half. The Indians scored back-to-back buckets late to go ahead 16-14 at the break, however.

Sioux County’s Tucker Monroe hit all eight of his points in the third quarter, and Shane Gluth dropped six in the period to give the Warriors a 14-5 run over the Indians and put them in the lead 28-21. Minatare scored seven to the Warriors’ two in the opening minutes of the final period, making it 30-28 Sioux County. The Warriors extended their lead back to four, only to see Minatare cut it in half once again.

Jack Hunter and Gluth hit back-to-back inside shots to push Sioux County to a six point lead, which Minatare cut to four with a pair of free throws. Will Skavdahl and Gluth then found the net for the Warriors to secure the win.

Gluth led the Warriors with 20 points. Fred Torres led Minatare with 13, and Miguel Calihua-Gonzales added 10.
