The Sioux County Warriors are still looking for their first win on the gridiron this season after suffering a 59-20 loss in Cody-Kilgore.

The Warriors took advantage of a Cody-Kilgore fumble on the opening kick-off and Leif Meidell ran in for a Warrior touchdown a few plays later for an 8-0 lead. That was the only time Sioux County would see the end zone in the first half. The Cowboys, however, answered to tie the game less than three minutes later and back-to-back sacks by the C-K defense put the Warriors offense on its heels. Cody-Kilgore  ended the first quarter up 14-8.

Cody-Kilgore added two more touchdowns in the second quarter, though the Warriors did block both point after attempts. The teams also traded interceptions, with Sioux County’s Cy Hughson throwing an interception intended for Sam Skavdahl. Seven seconds later the Warriors took possession again when Meidell intercepted a Cowboy pass.

The Cowboys opened the second half with another TD for a 32-8 edge, which was cut to 32-18 with a pass by Tucker Monroe to Shane Gluth. The Cowboys added two more touchdowns in the final three minutes of the third quarter to make it 44-14. Hughson scrambled into the end zone in the fourth for the Warriors to make it 44-20, but Cody-Kilgore added an answering touchdown and a safety in six seconds and tacked another TD on with less than a minute remaining.
