Women’s Basketball Has Two Games & An Exhibition This Week

The Chadron State College women’s basketball team (0-2, 0-0 RMAC) continues non-conference play this week when they travel to face Wayne State College (1-0, 0-0 NSIC), host Mount Marty University (0-4, 0-1 GPAC), and travel to the University of Wyoming (1-1, 0-0 MW) for an exhibition game.

CSC’s game in Wayne, Neb. is set for Thursday, November 18 at 6 p.m. MT, and tip off for their home game against Mount Marty is Sunday, November 21 at 2:30 p.m. They will travel to Laramie, Wyo. the next day for their exhibition game against the Cowgirls.

In its 48-year history against the Wildcats, Chadron State has only defeated Wayne State four times. The last win came in 1990-91 when the Eagles emerged victorious 77-73.

Wayne State is coming off a 72-65 road win over Newman University (0-2, 0-0 MIAA) to open their season. They shot 38.7% on field goals (24-62), 16.7 % on three-pointers (3-18), and 77.8% on free throws (21-27).

Leading the Wildcats with 21 points was guard Kylie Hammer, who spent a whopping 38 minutes on the court. Close behind her in minutes was forward Kassidy Pingel, who led the team in rebounds (11).

The Wayne State Wildcats are coached by fourth-year head coach Brent Pollari. He is assisted by Kacie O’Connor and Dalton Smith.

The Eagles’ home opener on Sunday against the Mount Marty Lancers marks the first time since the 1977-78 season that the two teams have met. Chadron State was defeated by the Lancers 60-55 in that season but was victorious the year prior, winning 85-83.

Mount Marty is coming off four back-to-back road losses to start their season. Last weekend, they were dropped 77-48 by Doane University (6-0, 1-0 GPAC) of Crete, Neb. At Doane, they shot 34.5% on field goals (20-58), 18.5% on three-pointers (5-27), and 75% on free throws (3-4).

Leading the Lancers in points (11) and rebounds (8) was forward Eve Millar, who was on the court for 27 minutes. Millar went 5-11 on field goals and 1-3 on three-pointers.

The Mount Marty Lancers are coached by fourth-year head coach Todd Schlimgen. He is assisted by Marissa Caballero, Emma Brown, and Kyli Nelson.
