The Chadron Federal Credit Union has a long history in Chadron and the surrounding area. The credit union was chartered in 1960 as the C & NW Employees Federal Credit Union. It started business in the depot on First Street. A name change in 1987 and a field of membership expansion to community charter in 1996 brings them to what they are today.
Today, membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Dawes, Sheridan, and Sioux Counties, as well as immediate family members of current members, regardless of where they live.
The Chadron Federal Credit Union is the only locally owned and operated financial institution in Chadron. They operate as a member-owned, not for profit cooperative. Their board of directors is made up of volunteers right here in the community.
