Funeral services for 59-year old Stanley Blindman of Chadron, NE, are Sunday, Nov 7, 2021, at 2:00 at the Rita Afraid of Bear Residence in Slimbutte Community, SD, with Father Joe Daoust, S.J., and Sister Barb Bogenschutz officiating and traditional Lakota services by Mr Richard Broken Nose

Burial is in the Family Cemetery in Slim Buttes, SD

A one-night wake starts Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 9:00 AM, also at the Rita Afraid of Bear residence.

Stanley James Blindman “Peji Waci Wicasa” was born on June 27, 1962 in Pine Ridge IHS Hospital, SD, to Moses W. Blindman and Rita R Long Visitor Holy Dance. Stanley made his journey to the Spirit World on October 27, 2021, at his home in Chadron.

Stanley was a grass dancer, always working on new outfits and always taking time to talk with the Lakota elders. who in turn enjoyed talking with him. He was always helpful.

Stanley is survived by his mother, Rita R Afraid Of Bear; older twin brother, Stuart T. Blindman; daughter, Jessie Anpo Wicahpi Seiffert; grandchildren, Billy Joel Sanchez, Keziah Louise Sanchez, Gianna Morning Song Sanchez, and Adonis Daniel Sanchez; nephews, Brandon Charbonneau Blindman, Sterling Blindman, and Shilo Blindman; niece, Sequoia Blindman Shoyo, Tianna Wilson Blindman. Siblings, Duane Blindman, Nathaniel Blindman, Twila (Dennis)Blindman Dixey and Travis Afraid Of Bear; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and hunka relatives throughout Native Country.

Stanley was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Nettie (Little Bird) Blindman; maternal grandparents, Rex and Antonia (Sierra) Long Visitor Holy Dance; father, Moses W. Blindman; brothers, Delmar Blindman and Patrick Blindman; cousins, Fontanelle Afraid Of Bear and Charles Spotted Thunder; nephew, Jorma L. Blindman; nieces, Tara Lee Garza and Billie Jo Kaiyou.

Pallbearers will be Travis Afraid Of Bear, Jason Blindman, Wakan Waci Blindman, Fred Afraid Of Bear Jr., Cranston Afraid Of Bear, Roger Lame, Erroll Russell and Gilbert Mata.
