State Map Lists 2nd Dawes County COVID-19 Case, But Appears To Be Coding Error Posted by John Axtell Date: May 16, 2020 3 Views HEMINGFORD – It appears that for the third time, the Nebraska Dept of Health and Human Services has erroneously credited a positive COVID-19 test from Dawson County to Dawes County. The department’s state map last evening showed 2 cases in Dawes County, but Panhandle COVID-19 Unified Command says the daily report it received from the Nebraska Public Health Lab did not list a second Dawes County case. Panhandle Public Health District executive director Kim Engel says Unified Command is following the same procedure it did the first two times the state map listed a Dawes County case it didn’t have – working with the state epidemiologists to resolve the discrepancy. Unified Command did not release a Panhandle update yesterday, leaving the regional count at 82 positive cases with 54 already recovered. Health and Human Services recorded 4 more deaths yesterday, 16 over the past 3 days, bringing the state total to 123. The department also reported another 428 positive cases for a total of 10,200 from a 65,774 tests.
