Storm Rolls Past Sioux County

The Sioux County Warriors headed to Creek Valley Friday searching for their first win and came home still looking for the elusive W. Creek Valley jumped out to an early 16-0 lead went on to a 62-42 victory.

The Warriors’ Sam Skavdahl scored Sioux County’s first touchdown with 3:26 remaining in the first quarter, but the Warrior defense couldn’t hold Creek Valley out of the endzone. Meidell crossed the goal line again early in the second quarter to make it 24-18, but that was the closest the Warriors would get to the Storm all night.

Creek Valley scored two more touchdowns on their next possessions and tackled a Sioux County ball carrier in the endzone for a safety to make it 42-18 with just a couple minutes remaining in the half. Sioux County’s Tucker Monroe carried the ball twice to put the Warriors at first and goal and with 25 seconds left until halftime ran it across the goal line. The resulting 42-24 score didn’t last long, however, as Creek Valley raced to the endzone 10 seconds later and followed that up with an interception returned for another TD to put them on top 56-24 as the half concluded.

Sioux County struck first in the second half, scoring 11 seconds after play started to make it 56-30. It would be the only score of the third quarter as Creek Valley struggled with penalties and Sioux County fumbled twice. The Warriors fumbled again early in the fourth, and Creek Valley used the recovery to cross into the endzone one more time. Sioux County tacked on two more touchdowns before the game’s end.
