Strong First Day At State Track Meet For Chadron High

Loading

Chadron High had a good opening day at the state track meet in Omaha Wednesday as 3 athletes clinched 4 spots in Thursday’s finals in two events.

Defending champion Xander Provance and teammate Rhett Cullers both advanced in the 110 High Hurdles, Provence with the fastest time and Cullers with the 6th-fastest, then Cullers and Malachi Swallow advanced in the 300 Intermediate Hurdles with the 6th and 3rd fastest qualifying times, respectively.

The only negative results of the day came when Brooklyn Hoffman failed to advance in the girls 100 HH after making state as a wild card and Swallow didn’t qualify in the 100 dash.

Xander Provance has a long day on Thursday. It starts at 8:30 MT with the LJ, then has him join Swallow, Cullars, and Quinn Bailey at 1:10 for the 4×100 relay. Provence and Cullars have the finals in the high hurdles at 2:05, and the quartet gets back together for the meet’s final event, the 4×400 relay, at 4:50.

Swallow and Cullars will run the 300 hurdles at 4:05. The only Lady Cardinal in action is Grace Pyle in the HJ, which begins at 10:30 MT.

While Thursday is the last day of the state meet for Classes A & B, action continues for 2 more days with Classes C and D in action Friday and Saturday.

  1. Let’s go Chadron Track Athletes!!! So proud of you ALL!!
I really hope Axtell can write an article where he doesn’t belittle or put down any student that “fails” to clinch a finalist or first place spot. Just being there as a STATE LEVEL ATHLETE is an honor and should be commended. What place did Brooklyn Hoffman even finish at? Why didn’t he include a few more details? Let’s hope he doesn’t shirk reporting on Grace Pyle. What does he have against female athletes or female state qualifiers? Am I the only one noticing this?
Please KCSR edit his reporting before it gets published!
