SUV-Semi Collision Friday In Cheyenne County Claims Couple But Toddler In Car Seat Survives

Cheyenne County Coroner Paul Schaub says he’s waiting for a final report by an accident reconstructionist on a Friday afternoon crash between an SUV and a semi in which a couple died but their young daughter survived.

51-year-old Brian Lee Johnson and his 24-year-old wife Catherine  died in the collision while their 18-month-old daughter is in a Colorado hospital. Her condition is not known, nor is whether the truck driver was injured.

Schaub says the preliminary investigation indicated the Nelson were northbound on a Cheyenne County road when they failed to stop at a stop sign at a second road and were hit by the westbound semi.

The toddler was in a car seat survived, but had to be extricated from the wreckage by first responders
