Funeral services for 60-year old Terry Cuny are Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10:00 at St Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Rapid City, SD, with Deacon Bill White officiating and traditional Lakota services by Marlon Kelly

Burial is at the Crow Creek Presbyterian Cemetery in Fort Thompson, SD

A one-night wake service starts Thurs, July 28, 2022 at 3:00 at the On Common Ground Church in Rapid City.

Terry Wade Cuny was an enrolled member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe, Hunkpati and Oglala. Terry most recently lived in Helena, MT and worked as an electrician. Humor and laughter carried him through life.  

Terry Wade Cuny was born on December 26, 1961 to Ray Cuny and Catherine Tekakwitha Fluery-Cuny-Winters. He passed on July 23, 2022, in Missoula, MT.

Terry grew up in Rapid City, SD where he went to General Beadle, North Middle School and Central High School, where he graduated in 1980.  Terry married Lisa Dobyns and from this union came 4 children, Lynn Marie (Kyle White) Cuny, Raymond Wade Cuny, Tera Jay (Quincy) Baker, and Gary Joseph Cuny of Rapid City, SD. 

Terry was an avid athlete. He was the starting point guard for Rapid City Central Cobblers 1980 State A Champions, and the 1979 runner up teams. He was selected to the All-State team in 1980.

Terry was the quarterback for the Rapid City Central football team and grew up playing baseball and running track. Terry enjoyed fishing and visiting with friends. He was a loyal Boston Celtics and Raiders fan. 

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Tekakwitha Fluery-Cuny-Winters;  fathers, Ray Cuny and Ray Winters; and brothers, Timothy Cuny (infant), Dennis Fluery, Robert Cuny, Jeff Cuny, Ray Chris Cuny, and Vince Cuny. 

Terry is survived by his children, Lynn Marie Cuny (Kyle White) of Rapid City, SD, Raymond Wade Cuny of Rapid City, SD, Tera Jay (Quincy) Baker of Muskogee, OK, Gary Joseph Cuny of Rapid City, SD, Kessa Kirkie of Chamberlain, SD, and Jaimie Lee Cuny of Tennesse; sisters, Stacie Winters of Rapid City, SD and Candy Winters of Gillette, WY; and grandchildren, Wakiyan (Tera) Cuny, Wicahpi Cuny, MJ Cuny, Keilani Baker, Keya Baker, Nevaya (Raymond) Cuny, Noah Cuny, Isabella Cuny, Caiden (Gary) Logue, Damian Cuny, Trey (Kessa) Seeking Land, TaeLonna Seeking Land, and Tayeden Seeking Land.

Pallbearers will be Raymond J. Winters (Nephew/Godson), Kyle Puckett, (Nephew /Godson), and Grandsons: Trey Seeking Land, Wakiyan Cuny, Noah Cuny, Caiden Logue, Damian Cuny, and MJ Cuny.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill White, Bob White, Tim Rogers, Jay Cersosimo, Jimmy Adams, Robert Long, Mike Jackson, Kevin Bad Wound, Joe Fluery, Tom Pickner, Ford Desheuquette, John Sawyer, Shane Talbot, Tim Lipp, Shawn Clemmons, Scott Bauer, Gaylen Jonas, George Sailer, Brad Wieland, Big Bob Flynn, Walt Swan, King Family, Dean Patton & Family, Mark Lone Hill & Family, Cuny Dog & Family, all off his teammates at Rapid City Central and class of 1980, and All of his cousins, relatives and friends.
