Funeral services for 71-year old Thomas “Nami” BullHead Sr are Monday, July 25, 2022 at 10:00 at the Maddie Wounded residence in Cheyenne Creek, SD, with traditional Lakota services by Kelly Looking Horse

Burial follows at 2:30 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.

A one-night wake service starts Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 3:00 at the Maggie Wounded residence in Cheyenne Creek with Military Roll Call at 7:00 PM.

Thomas Anthony “Nami” BullHead Sr was born on September 20, 1950, in BullHead, SD. to Xavier Bull Head and Mary Elizabeth (Brave Thunder) BullHead. Thomas made his journey to the Spirit World on July 20, 2022 at his home in Red Shirt, SD.

Tom started his education at Rock Creek-BullHead Day School alongside his brothers and sisters. Upon the relocation program, they moved to Chicago, IL for a short time. 

From then on, they went to Pierre Indian School and then to Mobridge. He also attended Wahpeton Indian School. In high school, he went to McLaughlin High School, where he graduated in 1969. 

After high school, Tom enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge.

In 1978, Tom met the love of his life, Beverly BullHead. He married her in 1980.

Thomas was a skilled quill artist who made beautiful quilled medicine wheels. He was also an avid guitarist.

Thomas is survived by his spouse Beverly BullHead; daughter Elizabeth Mattie BullHead; sons Thomas A BullHead Jr and Saul R BullHead; Godson Francis C BullHead; siblings Earlwin BullHead, Tyra Salas, and Imogene BullHead; and grandchildren Laria A-E BullHead, Jonan R BullHead, Montaya Rose, Massey, Demetrius BullHead, and Slader BullHead.

Thomas was preceded in death by his mother Mary Elizabeth (Brave Thunder) BullHead; father Xavier BullHead; daughter Sammy Christine BullHead; sisters Barbara BullHead and Alberta BullHead; brother Francis BullHead; aunt Evelyn Gabe; cousin “brother”, Darrell BullHead; and cousin Victor Brave Thunder.

Pallbearers will be Terrance “Terry” Two Bulls, Marcus Red Cloud, Saul BullHead, William M “Bimbo” Wounded, Leland BullHead, Waylon Stands, Brenton Stands, and Anpo Hoksila Red Cloud.
