Supporters of President Trump flocked to Eppley Airfield in Omaha Tuesday night to see their candidate at the last stop of a 3-city, 3-state tour.

They began lining up nearly 4 hours before the doors opened and 7 hours before the scheduled 7:30 start, and were still excited when Air Force One finally landed just before 8:00.

President Trump addressed the crowd about his plans for the country going forward with specific emphasis on issues of local concern including Nebraska’s farmers, ethanol production, and unemployment.

The president promised to “Hire more police, increase penalties for assaults on law enforcement and we will ban deadly sanctuary cities.”

He also promised to “defend religious liberty, free speech, the right to life, and the right to keep and bear arms” as well as to “maintain America’s unrivaled military might.”

CNN Correspondent Jeff Zeleny, a Nebraska native and UNL graduate, told 10-11 News that the President’s decision to come to Nebraska a week before election day means the campaign is keying in on Omaha’s 2nd Congressional District.

Nebraska is one of two states that allows its electoral votes to be divided, and Zeleny said the Biden campaign believes the 2nd District vote is within their grasp,”

Back in 2016, Trump picked up all five on Nebraska’s electoral college votes, as did Republican Mitt Romney back in 2012. The last Democrat to win Nebraska’s 2nd district was Barack Obama in 2008.
