Trump, Herbster Try Again After Friday Nebraska Rally Postponed By Bad Weather

Former President Donald Trump will try again Sunday to hold one of his  “Save America” rallies in Nebraska.

The rally at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, about 20 miles northeast of Lincoln, was postponed Friday by bad weather.

Trump’s event is doubling as a campaign rally for Charles Herbster, locked in a tight primary for the Republican nomination for governor.

Herbster is not the main focus of the rally and is scheduled to speak at 5:00 to kick off a series of “special guest speakers” before Mr Trump takes the stage at 8:00.

Herbster is certain to get talked up by at least one of the other speakers – longtime Trump aide and strategist Kellyanne Conway. She’s his national campaign chair.

The other speakers include Mike Lindell from My Pillow, one of the leading backers of the former president’s unsubstantiated claim that massive election fraud is why he lost the 2020 election.

Another speaker will be Matt Schlapp, Fox News political contributor and chairman of CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, and David Bossie, president of Citizens United and the producer of a conspiracy film blaming Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for Trump’s failed re-election bid.

Trump endorsed Herbster last year and didn’t schedule this rally until after an article by the Nebraska Examiner in which 8 women accused Herbster of fondling or kissing them against their will.

Political reports that Trump encouraged him to respond even more strongly than he did originally. Not long after that, Herbster hired a law firm used by Trump and filed a defamation suit against one of his accusers, State Senator Julie Slama – following Trump’s frequent response to similar accusations.

Herbster isn’t the first Trump-supported candidate this year to be accused of mistreating women. Ohio congressional hopeful Max Miller is accused of abuse by an ex-girlfriend, former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham.

Georgia Senate hopeful and college football Hall of Famer Herschel Walker has been accused of threatening multiple women over a decade, and Sean Parnell dropped out of the Pennsylvania Senate race late last year after he lost a custody fight with his ex-wife, who accused him of abuse.
