Vera Brings Plenty was born on November 11, 1944 in Pine Ridge, SD to Dick Elk Boy and Eliza Holy Bear.  Vera made her journey to the Spirit World on November 22, 2020 at the Seven Sisters Nursing Home in Hot Springs, SD.  

Vera attended the School for the Blind in Gerry, SD, until the facility was closed and moved to Aberdeen, SD, where she graduated from high school. 

Vera moved to Little Rock, AR, for one year to learn living skills to live on her own before moving back to Rapid City.  Vera attended school of National Business for two years before moving into the Cohen Home.  While at the Cohen Home, she was a DJ on KILI Radio for a short time.

Vera worked at the Pine Ridge Hospital as a Switchboard Operator for 29 years.  

Vera met Leo Brings Plenty and were married.  After Leo passed away, Vera moved to Hot Springs, SD, where she resided until her passing.  

Vera is survived by her siblings, Mary E. Black Tail Deer, Richard S. Elk Boy, Delia S. Elk Boy-Conquering Bear, and Donroy J. Elk Boy; and step-sister, Lula Red Cloud-Burk.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Dick Elk Boy and Eliza Holy Bear; step-mother, Agnes Elk Boy; brothers, Matthew Elk Boy and Carl “Tootsi” Elk Boy; W.T. Sugar Bear Red Cloud, and D. Smily Red Cloud.
