Warmer Temps Pushing Drought Conditions, Greater Moisture Chances Linger

Loading

The US Drought Monitor shows that conditions in the Nebraska Panhandle, Black Hills of South Dakota and Eastern Wyoming will continue to see drought or a worsening of drought conditions already in place.

A summary of the high plains indicates that Northeast Wyoming and Southwest Nebraska have seen improvement, benefitting from monsoonal moisture that recently moved through the area. The same system worsened conditions in Northwest Nebraska with high winds and above normal temps.

Most of the region continues through moderate or severe drought conditions with the local national weather service office forecast showing an increase in temperature and winds early in the week before a change by Wednesday with cooler temps and better chances of moisture.
