The Sioux County Warriors took down Morrill for the second time in a week to win the Hemingford Volleyball Invite Saturday.

Sioux County won the championship match in two sets, 25-20, 25-7.

The Warriors overcame a 10-5 deficit in the first set to tie the game at set points 13, 14 and 15. Two ace serves by Karlee Juhnke gave them a brief advantage, before the Lions rallied to tie the game at 18 and 19. Morrill took a 20-19 lead but stalled there as Juhnke hammered out a kill to put the Warriors on top 21-20, a lead they never game up.

Sioux County dominated the second set, taking the title in a quick 25-7 rout. With Kailey Klein at the serving line, the Warriors opened up a 7-1 lead. They extended their advantage 13-1 behind a block by Skylar Edmund, an ace serve by Tamika Eastman and three more by Juhnke. They closed out the set with two ace serves by Beth Krein, and kills by Klein, Edmund and Eastman.

The Warriors played their way into the final round with wins over the Mitchell JV and Hay Springs, making them 9-2 on the year, though their official NSAA record will be 8-2 as the Mitchell JV game will not be included. Sioux dropped the first set to Mitchell 21-25 but rebounded to take the next two 25-12, 25-13. While the first set looked to be close early with the teams tied at 5, the Warriors opened up a 7-5 edge and never looked back thanks to ace serves by Edmund and Kodie Rempp. Edmund also had two key consecutive blocks, and three late kills by Eastman. The Warriors took the final set easily, in action that included seven ace serves by Klein, Rempp and Krein and three kills by Edmund.

Sioux County won the opening set against Hay Springs 25-23 in a closely matched contest that saw 13 ties. Hay Springs took the second 25-19, overcoming an early Warriors lead to tie the game and 11 and press their advantage. Sioux County led from the outset of the third, defeating the Hawks 25-12.

The Mitchell JV team took fifth place in the tournament, defeating Hemingford 25-23, 25-19 in the consolation round. Minatare finished third, earning a 20-25, 26-24, 25-20 victory over Hay Springs.
