Widespread Snow & Wind Event Today

Messages of the Day:
• Widespread light snowfall for all areas. Heaviest snowfall expected for mountain areas through 5 PM MST today.
• Blowing snow and reduce visibilities will make hazardous driving conditions across Interstate 80. Slick roads possible for all other areas. • Strong winds continue for southeastern Wyoming with wind gusts up to 65 MPH possible for High Wind Warning areas.
• Increased confidence for snow squalls from Chugwater to Casper this afternoon
Important Forecast Changes
• Winter Weather Advisory expanded across rest of Carbon County and northwest corner of Albany County.

Hazards:
1. Mountain areas can expect up to 12 inches with winds gusting up to 45 mph producing blowing snow and near-zero visibilities at times. Blowing snow may reduce visibilities at times. 1b. Arlington and Elk Mountain across I-80 can expect blowing snow and possible whiteout conditions through 5 PM MST today with 3 inches possible against the foothills.

  1. Westerly winds gusting to 65 mph is possible for High Wind Warning areas. 3. Areas east of Interstate 25 will need to use extra caution on slick roads with minimal snowfall accumulations.
  2. Timing & Duration: The heaviest snow expected from now through 5 PM MST today. Strongest winds are expected until 11 PM MST.
    Impacts: Dangerous driving conditions of strong winds and blowing snow for travelers along Interstates 80 and 25. Minor impacts of slick roads for areas east of I-25.
