Former Chadron State all-american football player Danny Woodhead saw his run to the US Open golf championships come to an end on Monday after missing out on qualifying.

Competing at one of ten final qualifiers in Springfield, Ohio, Woodhead finished his 36-hole round at 10-over. The qualifying cut was 5-under.

Through the first four holes Woodhead sat at 1-under but then went bogey or worse on six of the next 14 holes including a pair of double bogeys to wrap up his first 18. His 2nd 18 were a lot cleaner, with five birdies during the round, but he again bogeyed five holes and dropped a triple bogey on the par-4 10th.

The three other Nebraskans in the field also failed to qualify for the US Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts in two weeks.
